Massage therapy is defined as the systematic manipulation of the soft tissue (muscle, tendons and fascia) of the body for therapeutic results. Massage therapy can assist with reducing stress and anxiety, helping with relaxation, injury rehabilitation, easing of pain, and general improvement of health and wellness.

All treatments are performed from my home in Rock, by appointment only. Mobile massages can be arranged in the comfort of your own home.

Hello, I’m Lauren, a fully internationally qualified and insured Sports Massage Therapist and Founder of Rock Sports Massage Therapy based in Rock, Cornwall. 

I am passionate about helping people achieve their fitness and performance goals and heal and recover from sporting injuries – both beginners to advanced. My mission is to address and treat the root cause, not just the symptoms. I do this by helping to find and remove pain and tension as well as promoting recovery and reducing the chance of muscle injuries.

Massage is not a luxury but is integral to maintaining a healthy, happy body and mind. 

Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, I worked closely with a Physiotherapist for nine years, where I discovered my vast interest in the human body, anatomy and physiology, and my love for helping patients. I gained so much knowledge through the experience and am eternally grateful. 

An opportunity arose within the company allowing me to help existing patients by offering them sports massages – so I honoured my calling. I qualified as a Sports Massage Therapist in 2017, making my dreams come true. While working alongside the Physiotherapist, I opened up a studio from my home, where I helped my patients before and after work and during weekends. The owner retired and closed her business. 

Meanwhile, I was planning to immigrate but ran my business successfully for six years before we moved to the United Kingdom. I moved to Cornwall in September 2022 with my daughter to live a better life.

People always ask, “Why Cornwall?” 

That’s pretty easy – it reminds us of “home”, it is absolutely beautiful, and ticks all our boxes. We have settled in beautifully, and I decided to continue doing what I love, living the dream and helping you!

I have a studio in my conservatory which has beautiful and serene garden views. There’s ample free parking and total privacy. I’m responsible for all my bookings and my treatments will never be rushed. I’m very flexible and able to adapt my hours where possible, so please ask and I’ll do my utmost to accommodate you. Additionally, I offer mobile treatments in the comfort of your own home.

SPORTS MASSAGE

Sports massage is a good option if you have a repetitive use injury to a muscle, such as what you may get from playing a sport. It’s also a good option if you’re prone to injuries because it can be used to help prevent sports injuries. You may also use sports massage to increase flexibility and performance. Additionally, sports massage can be used to relieve pain, anxiety, and muscle tension. 

TRIGGER POINT MASSAGE

Trigger point massages are best suited for people who have injuries, chronic pain, or a specific issue or condition. Sometimes areas of tightness in the muscle tissues, known as trigger points, can cause pain in other parts of the body. By focusing on relieving trigger points, this type of massage can reduce pain.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

Deep tissue massage uses more pressure than a Swedish massage. It’s a good option if you have chronic muscle problems, such as soreness, injury, or imbalance. It can help relieve tight muscles, chronic muscle pain, and anxiety. 

SWEDISH MASSAGE

Swedish massage is a gentle type of full-body massage that’s ideal for all people. It can help release muscle knots, and it’s also a good choice for when you want to fully relax during a massage.

RELAXATION MASSAGE

A relaxation massage is a smooth, gentle treatment that relieves muscular tension, increases circulation, and promotes a general sense of relaxation. This massage is performed using Swedish techniques consisting of long, rhythmic strokes and small circular movements which help to break down adhesions and promote better circulation. Unlike deep tissue massages, a relaxation massage does not address the connective tissue of the muscles. It is not intended to treat sports injuries or other discomfort and is instead used to reduce muscle tension while bringing the body back to a relaxed state. Many people seek relaxation massage treatments after a long week at work or to help improve their mental health.
